Ce jeudi 11 septembre à Valladolid, les coureurs de cette 80e édition de la Vuelta se sont finalement élancés pour un contre-la-montre individuel de 12,2 km, au lieu des 27,2 km initiaux. Un changement de parcours sûrement à l’avantage de Jonas Vingegaard (Team Visma | Lease a Bike), neuxième de ce chrono, qui a perdu 10 secondes sur son rival João Almeida (UAE Team Emirates-XRG), trosième de cette étape. Le Danois reste malgré tout leader du classement général avec 40 secondes d’avance sur son dauphin portugais. Le coureur de 28 ans s’est exprimé au micro de l’organisation après son arrivée.

"Je peux être plutôt satisfait..."

"Je pense que je peux être plutôt satisfait de la façon dont ça s’est passé aujourd’hui", débute le Danois. "Sur un contre-la-montre plat comme celui-ci, ça convenait mieux aux coureurs plus costauds, donc réussir un tel chrono me va", affirme-t-il. "Je n’ai jamais atteint 55 km/h de moyenne sur un contre-la-montre, donc je peux être satisfait de ma performance aujourd’hui. Je pense que je dois être content de ces écarts car j’ai fait un bon contre-la-montre. Je suis toujours en tête à trois étapes de l’arrivée, alors maintenant, il faut se concentrer sur demain et après-demain. Ce seront deux journées difficiles où il faudra rester concentré. Je suis assez confiant. Aujourd’hui fut une bonne journée pour moi, on verra bien", conclut Jonas Vingegaard.
